Capsicum onion cheese sandwich recipe

Capsicum onion cheese toasted sandwich is the perfect evening snack , it’s crispy and very filling snack. its an easy sandwich recipe made with less and readily available ingredients . It has a very uncomplicated simple recipe and is quite easy to make. I personally enjoy this sandwich with ketchup and hot Ginger tea .

Ingredients to make capsicum onion sandwich

  • Bread slices – 4 nos .
  • Capsicum chopped finely – 2
  • Onion finely chopped – 1
  • Red chilli powder – 1tsp
  • Garam masala powder – half tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1 tsp
  • Cumin seed powder – ½ tsp
  • Salt – ½ tsp
  • Butter – 2 tsp
  • Oil – 3 tsp
  • Cheese – 2 cubes (half cup )

Method to make capsicum onion sandwich

To make the stuffing for the sandwich

In a wok add in 3 teaspoons oil and heat it.

Add in one finely chopped onion and sauté it till it turns golden brown and is properly cooked. Keep stirring it so that it doesn’t burn .

Once the onions have turned brown add two finely chopped capsicum and sauté it till they become soft and properly cooked .

Cover the lid and cook it properly on medium flame for about three to four minutes .

Now open the lid and add in the powdered spices like one teaspoon of red chilli powder , half tea spoon of garam masala powder , one teaspoon of coriander powder , half a teaspoon of cumin seed powder and salt to taste and mix well .

Let the spices mix well with the onion and capsicum mixture and get roasted well.

Keep stirring well so that the spices don’t get stuck to the bottom of the pan , if they still get stuck to the bottom of the vessel add in very little about three spoons of water to the mixture and keep stirring .

Make sure the water has completely dried up and then add in two cubes of grated cheese which is approximately half cup .

You can use any cheese you want I prefer to use processed cheese grate it before adding to the spice mixture .now mix it well and turn off the flame.

Let the mixture cool down a bit . heat up a skillet or a pan in the meanwhile . Take a slice of bread and add in the cooled down cooked mixture and cover it with another slice of bread .

To assemble the sandwich.

Now apply butter generously on the outer side of the bread and put it buttered side down on the skillet now apply butter on the top portion and let the sandwich toast for a minute on a medium to low heat .

Flip the sandwich on the other side too, till it becomes nice and crispy , for it to become crispy make sure the flame is not too high.

It should be toasted on a medium to low heat , press it gently with a spatula while toasting it and flip it , this will give it a crispy texture .

Repeat the same process with other two slices of bread .

Once done cut the sandwich into triangles and serve them with ketchup . I personally enjoy these sandwiches with hot ginger tea .
